Journey to Entrepreneurship - How It All Got Started
Alan SchectersonI owe it to my parents, Abe and Lucille, who grounded me in a good work ethic and the “golden rule.” I would always tinker and was always into one thing or another, if it wasn’t a tree fort we were building, it was a go-cart or a soap box derby car. Even though I didn’t realize it until later in life, I was getting groomed for entrepreneurship at an early age.

My Dad ran an advertising and marketing company with my Uncle Jack (who also created the PHP Logo and brand). One set of grandparents lived in Manhattan. Dad worked on Madison Avenue, while Mom spent her early career working in the Empire State Building. My other grandparents lived across the street from the famous Bronx Zoo. How fortunate and cool for a kid, or anyone for that matter, to be exposed to some of the greatest architecture and design the world has to offer. My love of construction and all its related elements was born.

Cleanliness
Don't worry about a mess, as we provide for all dust control and surface protection as well as hauling all debris from the premises.

PHP invests considerably in clean drop cloths, tarps, vacuums with clean filters, brooms, mops, dust barriers and whatever it takes to keep our sites clean, safe and organized. Cleanliness on the job is everyone’s responsibility and we expect all personnel, employees and subcontractors to be responsible for their actions.

PHP where applicable will provide a final detail cleaning service for the project, otherwise our sites are left broom swept and vacuumed at the end of every day. We make every effort to minimize any inconvenience with parking, trash containers, or loud noise. We keep our vehicles clean and organized and we do not allow vehicles to drip oil in your driveway or street areas. We haul ALL the debris, whether a bag full or a truck load.

We DO NOT borrow ANYTHING from our customers.

You are paying us to be professional and we come prepared for the task at hand.

Safety
It is our policy to promote safety on the job.  The health and well being our employees is foremost among our concerns.  For this reason, our employees are urged to follow common sense safety practices, and correct or report any unsafe conditions, defective tools, or equipment to the Supervisor.

Every employee is required to attend safety meetings and is expected to assist Practical Handiman Plus in maintaining safe working conditions.

SAFETY FIRST AND ALWAYS.  WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE SAFETY FOR ANYONE OR ANYTHING AT ANY TIME.   SAFETY IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL OF US.

  • We are committed to providing a safe working environment that will protect our employees and others, provide the highest level of service, and minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Work areas are maintained in a clean, healthy and orderly fashion to prevent unsafe conditions and potential accidents.
  • Tools and equipment are properly stored when not in use.
  • If the job requires PHP to handle hazardous or toxic materials, we comply with all laws, rules and regulations concerning their safe handling and disposal.
